Mark Your Calendar: Walz and Vance to Face Off in VP Debate on October 1
Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance has confirmed his participation in a vice presidential debate scheduled for October 1 against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. This event, organized by CBS News, will take place in New York City.
Governor Walz accepted the debate invitation on Wednesday. In addition to the CBS event, Vance has called for more opportunities to debate, specifically proposing a CNN debate on September 18.
In a post on X, Vance stated, “Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both.”
The campaign for Harris and Walz has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the upcoming debates, as reported by States Newsroom.
Notably, September 18 coincides with the date when GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is set for sentencing in his hush money trial. Trump faces legal consequences stemming from his conviction on 34 counts related to falsifying business records in an effort to influence the 2016 election via payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
On the legal front, Trump’s attorneys submitted a letter on Wednesday, now public, requesting that his sentencing be postponed until after the presidential election.
Additionally, both Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris are scheduled to participate in a presidential debate hosted by ABC News on September 10.
