Maricopa’s Driver’s License Dilemma: What You Need to Know Now

You can’t get a driver’s license in Maricopa anymore

Residents of Maricopa face new challenges after the closure of the Arizona State Express Title & Registration office on May 2, 2025.

A notice on the office door declared the location “closed indefinitely,” leaving many local residents without access to essential services.

This marked the only MVD-authorized, third-party office in the area, which had recently received a flurry of one-star reviews on platforms like Yelp and averaged two stars on Google, indicating possible customer dissatisfaction.

The office, which replaced a Baskin-Robbins in 2013, is now closed for good. Ironically, that ice cream shop is set to reopen nearby this month.

Residents seeking MVD services must now travel about thirty minutes to find the nearest offices in Casa Grande, Chandler, or Tempe.

Lewis Green, the businessman behind the Maricopa location, has also recently closed two Dickey’s Barbeque Pit outlets within the community, adding to the sense of uncertainty regarding local businesses.
