Maricopa teen Damian Logan, charged with drive-by shooting, is nabbed by SWAT

An 18-year-old man from Maricopa, Damian Logan, has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that took place in Casa Grande on March 18, 2025. The Casa Grande Police Department, supported by the Pinal Regional SWAT team, executed a search warrant to apprehend Logan.

The incident unfolded shortly before midnight on Saturday at a McDonald’s located near North Pinal Avenue and McCartney Road. Following a disagreement, the situation escalated approximately 1.5 miles north to the Villago subdivision, where Logan allegedly fired multiple rounds into an occupied vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Authorities are currently investigating the specifics of the firearm used, the precise number of shots fired, and the motivations behind the shooting. Logan faces several charges: aggravated assault, drive-by shooting, and discharging a firearm at a structure.

Notably, Logan was previously recognized as a quarterback for both Maricopa High School and Casa Grande Union High School football teams. He was an active player during the 2023-24 season, though he is not listed as a graduating senior from MHS in 2024, raising questions about his academic status.

Today, police tracking led them to a residence in the Desert Cedars neighborhood of Maricopa. Due to the involving firearm, the Pinal County Regional SWAT team responded to the situation. “Anytime an individual suspect is involved with a firearm, it’s going to activate SWAT,” remarked Casa Grande Public Information Officer Thomas Anderson.

The SWAT team arrived at the home near Greythorn Drive and Yucca Lane around 2:45 p.m., deploying two SWAT vehicles and several unmarked police cars. Although the Maricopa Police Department was notified, they did not participate in the operation; the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office facilitated the arrest.

Logan was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center in Florence. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 46 years in prison.
