Maricopa Set to Transform into a Citywide Putt-Putt Paradise This May

Excitement is brewing in Maricopa as the Chamber of Commerce prepares for its first-ever Fairway to Success Putt-Putt Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, May 3.
Unlike traditional mini-golf tournaments, this event features a unique format where each hole is hosted by a different local business, creating a festive atmosphere. “Instead of every hole being at one location, each is sponsored by and built by a local business [at their location],” said Executive Director Kelly Anderson.
Confirmed participating businesses include Maricopa Water & Ice, Mandy’s Wine Bar, and Roots Eatery. Each hole promises a mix of creativity and community engagement, allowing businesses to showcase their offerings. Anderson noted, “It can be elaborate, it can be simple, it can be crazy. It’s really a way for employees to bond a little and it gives that business an opportunity to provide a sample of their wares, get feedback or test out a new cocktail.”
The tournament will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., kicking off with a hole-in-one competition at the Duke at Rancho El Dorado. Participants can look forward to an afterparty at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes featuring awards presentations and a raffle.
Prizes will be awarded for the highest and lowest scoring teams, as well as for the best-dressed team. One lucky participant will even have a chance to win a free air conditioning unit, courtesy of 911 Air Repair.
This event is not just about fun and games; it also serves a higher purpose. A portion of the funds raised will benefit the newly launched Maricopa Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which focuses on workforce development and support for small businesses in the area, according to Anderson.
“We just launched the foundation, so this is probably the first time anybody’s hearing about it,” she added.
Registration for the tournament opens Monday, costing $150 per team of four. For further details or to contribute raffle items, interested parties can check the chamber’s website.
