Maricopa Senior Living Shines a Light on Dementia Awareness with Community Event

In an effort to clarify the distinctions between normal age-related memory loss and more serious conditions like dementia, Maricopa Senior Living is organizing a program titled “Is it forgetfulness, or something else? What’s normal as we age and what really isn’t?”
This free community event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center’s Redwood Room.
Designed for individuals who may be experiencing memory lapses or those concerned about a loved one’s cognitive health, the session aims to educate attendees about expected changes in memory with age and when to seek further evaluation.
Elaine Poker-Yount, CDP, a Certified Dementia Practitioner and founder of Successful Aging AZ, will lead the presentation. Participants will gain insights into early signs of dementia, empowering caregivers and families to take appropriate actions.
Participants can also enjoy refreshments and access informational resources. The event will include announcements about future dementia support programming in Maricopa.
