David Abercrombie, a former standout volleyball player from Maricopa High School, is set to join Baldwin Wallace University’s men’s volleyball program. He is among three athletes from Maricopa aiming to make their mark at the collegiate level.

Head Coach Kyle Mars will lead the Yellow Jackets in his fifth season, bringing back a strong roster of 15 letterwinners. Among them are four All-Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) players and 12 Academic All-MCVL honorees. Last season, the team finished with a 13-14 record and a notable 7-2 mark in MCVL play, qualifying for the MCVL Tournament.

The Yellow Jackets will kick off their 2025 season on January 17, competing in the Messiah Invitational in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. They are scheduled to face Randolph-Macon College at 6 p.m. on the first day, followed by matches against host Messiah University and Misericordia University on January 18.

Baldwin Wallace University, established in 1845 in Berea, Ohio, is notable for its commitment to inclusivity, having been one of the first institutions to admit students regardless of race or gender. The university currently enrolls approximately 3,500 students, offering programs across more than 65 academic disciplines within a liberal arts framework.
