Maricopa County’s Rainy Sunday: Which Areas Got Soaked the Most?

Which Maricopa County areas saw the most rainfall Sunday?

Murky puddles and water-soaked sidewalks remain visible after an unusual rainstorm swept through the Valley this past Sunday. Meteorologist Mark O’Malley from the National Weather Service described the phenomenon as “very unusual,” marking the first significant rain of the summer.

The storm system originated from a remnant tropical storm, entering southern Arizona early Sunday morning. As it progressed, the storm brought heavy rainfall to the northern Valley, continuing into Monday morning.

Such weather events are not typical for this time of year, leaving behind a mix of leaves, petals, and palm fronds scattered throughout the area. Residents are left to navigate the aftereffects of the storm as they anticipate clearer skies ahead.
