Maricopa County Animal Shelter’s Exciting Third Annual 'Turkey Tasters' Event Unleashed!

MESA, Ariz. — Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is inviting Arizonans to participate in its annual “Turkey Tasters” event this Thanksgiving season. This initiative enables individuals to foster dogs for one week, starting from November 23 to December 1, with the option to continue longer if they find a special connection.
To be a part of this heartwarming experience, interested foster parents must fill out an application. Following that, they can visit either the west or east shelter to meet the “Turkey Tasters” eager for a temporary home. Dogs can be picked up between November 23 and November 27.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for those who may not be ready for a long-term commitment but still wish to make a difference for homeless animals,” said Communications Supervisor Kim Powell. “We have numerous dogs that could benefit from human companionship during the holiday.”
Eligible dogs are six months and older, and each will receive a goodie bag filled with treats and food to ease the transition into their temporary home. According to Dana Klose, Alternative Placement Supervisor, “This is our third year hosting the Turkey Tasters Foster Event. It’s a wonderful way for our dogs to enjoy a break from shelter life and connect with potential adopters.”
Walk-ins are open from 12 to 5 p.m., or visitors can schedule an appointment online for a more tailored experience. For further details, please consult the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control website.
