Maricopa burglar caught hiding out in Casa Grande Hotel: cops

A Maricopa Meadows man, identified as 26-year-old Tyler Eccles, was arrested on Monday morning after police tracked him down using a stolen Apple laptop. Eccles is accused of burglarizing a vehicle in The Lakes at Rancho El Dorado, making off with numerous valuable items including ammunition and a firearm box.

Authorities from the Maricopa Police Department and Casa Grande Police Department apprehended Eccles on felony charges related to burglary and theft exceeding $2,000. The arrest followed a probable cause statement detailing a cache of stolen goods and vehicles allegedly linked to Eccles.

The incident unfolded Sunday morning when a homeowner reported a burglary after reviewing security footage that captured Eccles in a green shirt and khakis rummaging through his car overnight. The victim noted that several items, including a MacBook, gun box, ammunition, and personal items, were missing.

Using the Find My app on his iPhone, the homeowner pinpointed the location of his stolen laptop to a Super 8 hotel in Casa Grande. Responding officers discovered a stolen vehicle parked outside the hotel, containing the Puma bag and gun box reported missing.

Inside the hotel, Eccles was located and taken into custody. Officers noted that he was wearing the stolen clothing items and had other burglary-related possessions on him. Additionally, the missing MacBook was found inside another vehicle linked to the crimes.

Eccles has been booked into the Pinal County jail, facing a potential sentence of over 14 years. This arrest follows previous drug charges he faced last month in Maricopa County, alongside multiple DUI convictions.

In light of recent thefts in the Rancho Mirage area, the Maricopa Police Department reiterated its advice to residents: properly secure vehicles, close garages, and avoid leaving valuable items inside unattended cars.
