Maricopa is seeking passionate individuals to join its Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC). The city currently has an opening for residents who care about enhancing local parks and youth sports.

The PRAC is vital for shaping Maricopa’s recreational spaces. Members collaborate with fellow residents to advise the City Council on several key aspects, meeting at least four times annually.

The committee’s responsibilities include:

  • Providing feedback on the city’s 10-year Capital Improvement Plan for parks and recreation projects.
  • Guiding early planning and design for future park developments.
  • Reviewing proposals related to long-term community planning.
  • Sharing community insights on parks and recreational needs.
  • Promoting the significance of parks and recreation services in Maricopa.
  • Acting as a liaison between neighborhoods and city staff.
  • Focusing on broad community issues to ensure inclusive decision-making.
  • Advocating for parks and recreation initiatives throughout the city.

City Council member Vincent Manfredi expressed a desire for candidates who are actively engaged in youth programs or who have a strong commitment to building a vibrant community. “This is a chance to be directly involved in creating a recreational environment that benefits families,” he stated.

Interested residents are encouraged to apply by filling out the application form. Manfredi is available for questions and can be reached directly through email.

“Let’s continue improving our city, one park, one trail, and one team at a time,” he concluded.
