aggravated assault against an officer
Man Shocked with Taser After Ignoring Restraining Order

A man from Santa Rosa Crossing is facing serious legal consequences following an altercation with law enforcement. James Lind is charged with two felonies after he allegedly assaulted police officers while being taken into custody near Maricopa.
The incident unfolded Monday afternoon around 1:45 p.m., as police arrived at a residence on West Mescal Street to enforce an order of protection against Lind. Initial attempts to request his cooperation were met with resistance.
Officers located Lind in a bathroom hours later and instructed him to leave. However, he demanded to speak to a supervisor, delaying the process. When the supervisor reiterated the request for Lind to vacate the premises, he continued to refuse.
Despite being given multiple opportunities to gather his belongings, Lind tensed his body upon being informed of his arrest. Police reports indicate that he actively resisted being handcuffed. As a result, officers utilized a Taser to subdue him and facilitate the arrest.
Following his arrest, Lind allegedly fought back and caused minor injuries to two officers during the struggle. He has been charged with interfering with judicial proceedings, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer.
If convicted on all counts, Lind faces a potential sentence of up to 4.5 years in prison. The case highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces while enforcing legal orders.
