Man Nabbed for Bringing Pellet Gun to Chinle High School Dance, Authorities Report
CHINLE, Ariz. — A man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly bringing a pellet gun to the Chinle High School homecoming dance, as confirmed by the Navajo Police Department.
During a routine security check at the event, officers received reports that a student might be armed. The responding officers quickly located and apprehended the individual, reportedly carrying a Glock 17 pellet handgun.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Ferlondo James, was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and students were safely released back to their parents following the incident.
In response to the event, Navajo Nation officials announced that starting Monday, the Navajo Police Department will assign officers from each district as school liaisons for all schools, including public, Bureau of Indian Education, and charter schools across the Navajo Nation.
It remains uncertain whether James is a student at Chinle High School.
