Man pleads guilty to criminal damage to multimillion-dollar home

A homeless man pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage after vandalizing the home of a good Samaritan who had taken him in. Adam Canchola, 26, faced the consequences following an incident that took place in August at a multi-million dollar residence on Black Hill Place.

According to police reports, the trouble began when Canchola was asked to leave the home due to a falling out. While the victim was out dining with friends, Canchola took to vandalizing the garage. He allegedly used a rock to shatter the windshield and windows of the victim’s 2023 Lamborghini and inflicted further damage on a 2020 McLaren with a large marble stone.

In court, Canchola expressed remorse, stating, “I’m sorry for what I did,” before Judge Billy Sipe. His defense attorney, Ross Carponelli, highlighted that Canchola had an otherwise clean legal record, save for a traffic ticket.

“Clearly this was an isolated incident,” Carponelli remarked, mentioning that the victim harbored a sense of compassion regarding the events. “The victim views the incident with compassion, which is appreciated,” he added.

Judge Sipe subsequently imposed a 17-day jail sentence but credited Canchola for the time he had already served. He also placed him on supervised probation and mandated 100 hours of community service. Although potential restitution for the damages is still pending, the legal proceedings are moving forward.
