Major JWP Intersection Choked by Two-Car Collision

Maricopa police and fire personnel responded to a vehicular collision at the intersection of North John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road on September 5, 2024. The incident occurred around 8:55 p.m. and resulted in a significant traffic blockage for almost an hour. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
According to reports from Phoenix Regional Dispatch, the crash involved two cars—a Cadillac sedan and a Hyundai sedan. The Cadillac, which sustained front-end damage, became immobilized in the intersection, while the Hyundai came to rest off the roadway, its passenger side damaged. Between the vehicles, debris and motor fluids were scattered across the road.
MPD spokesperson Monica Williams stated, “A car turning left onto Edison from northbound John Wayne Parkway failed to yield and collided with another car.” Two individuals were involved in the incident, but neither required hospital transport.
The collision blocked two southbound lanes on John Wayne Parkway and disrupted traffic flow on Edison Road in the westbound direction. Crews worked to clear the vehicles and address the spilled fluids, with all lanes expected to reopen ahead of the 10 p.m. deadline, as confirmed by Williams.
