Lowe’s breaks ground at Southbridge

Nearly a year after announcing its expansion into Maricopa, Lowe’s Home Improvement has officially commenced construction on a new 139,000-square-foot hardware store and garden center. The work began this week at Southbridge Marketplace, located at the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue.

The Mooresville, N.C.-based retailer, a major competitor to Home Depot—which opened in Maricopa in September—has begun laying the foundation and installing support beams at the site, as observed by local reporters.

This project is several months behind schedule, with developers initially aiming to break ground this summer. Efforts to obtain further comments on the revised timeline from Lowe’s and the Indianapolis-based developer Thompson Thrift have not yet yielded results. City spokesperson Monica Williams was also unavailable to provide insights.
