Maricopa Residents Share Their Gratitude This Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches, Maricopa residents are reflecting on what they are most thankful for. The sentiments expressed by residents from various communities highlight the importance of family, health, and community connections.

Charlene Ward, a newcomer from Homestead, stated, “I am very thankful to have my children and my grandchildren for the holidays.” This sentiment is echoed by Alta Coit, who has lived in Glennwilde for five years. She expressed gratitude for her family’s health, saying, “I’m thankful for my wonderful family, everybody is healthy and all my grandchildren.”

Miriam Smith-Burks, also from Glennwilde, shared a poignant story of support. After moving from California, her daughter welcomed her into her home. “I’m thankful for my daughter,” she said, acknowledging the bond that brought them together during a tough time.

Ruth Wallace, an eight-year resident of Senita 3, emphasized gratitude for her health and family. “I have four children and a huge group of grandkids and great-grandkids,” she noted, showcasing the joy of a large family.

Ralph Brock of Rancho Mirage voiced his appreciation for spiritual and personal well-being. “I am thankful for Jesus Christ and good health and wealth with my wife, Bonnie,” he said. Their commitment to community and church life reflects the values many hold dear in Maricopa.

Shirley Luther, a new resident in North Homestead, expressed gratitude for her local senior center, which fosters a sense of community. “I am thankful for the senior center and the sociability. They bring jelly donuts,” she remarked humorously.

William “Bill” Luther, sharing similar sentiments, noted the positive social environment fostered by the senior center. “We’ve made a lot of new friends here,” he said, contrasting it with his previous life in Idaho.

Deborah Jay, who leads the Creative Sisterhood group in Desert Passage, expressed her gratitude for her community involvement and her supportive neighbor, Josie. “I’m also thankful for my neighbor, Josie,” Jay stated.

Josie Luna echoed the general spirit of appreciation prevalent in Maricopa. “I am very thankful because this community is very nice, very friendly and very peaceful,” she stated, reflecting on the camaraderie felt among residents.

Linda Austin from Province highlighted the generosity of her neighbors. “The people in this community are just so giving and so gracious, and that’s what I’m thankful for,” she remarked.

Lastly, Joan Nieman from Acacia Crossings shared a simple yet profound message of gratitude for the essential connections in her life. “I am thankful for family, friends, and community.”

These reflections indicate a strong sense of belonging and appreciation that pervades the Maricopa area, reminding its residents of the importance of togetherness during this festive time.
