Litchfield Park Baseball Team on the Brink: Just 2 Wins From Little League World Series

The team from Arizona sees a trip to the Little League World Series within reach. Their coach says the journey has been incredible.
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. — As a kid, the minute you put on a Little League uniform, dreams begin. Kids envision themselves as their favorite big leaguers.
From heroic plays at shortstop to hitting game-winning homers, the allure of the sport captures young imaginations. For Little Leaguers, the ultimate dream is making it to the Little League World Series.
For Litchfield Park coach Jason Gibbs and his team, that dream is just a few wins away.
The West Valley team is competing in the Little League West Region tournament in San Bernardino, California, and a World Series berth is within arm’s reach.
“This run has been incredible,” Gibbs said. “It’s been amazing.”
He was all smiles talking about his club and their clutch performances, especially those from the bottom of the order.
“It’s like a dream for these boys,” Gibbs stated. “Being on ESPN, they’ve watched it two or three times.”
Gibbs expressed that the support from players’ families has been instrumental. The combined efforts of players, coaches, and parents have driven their success.
This is Litchfield Park’s first appearance in the West Region, according to Gibbs.
“Getting to the big show in Williamsport would mean a lot,” he proclaimed. “It would be amazing.”
Litchfield Park’s next game is Wednesday at 3 p.m. Check the Little League website for the full schedule.
