Tom George, a Republican Committeeman for Legislative District 29, lost his El Mirage home to a devastating fire on May 10. This loss has left George and his young son homeless.

LD29 GOP Chair Lisa Everett alerted AZ Free News to the tragedy, describing George as “a great man” and one of “the hardest working individuals” she knows.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support George and his son, managed by colleague Eric Miller. In a Facebook post, Miller emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “Tom lost everything when his home burned down. He has always given his time to help others. Now he needs our help.” The post highlights the lack of renter’s insurance and the financial struggles exacerbated by inflation.

According to the GoFundMe page, donations will assist with essentials, temporary housing, and rebuilding efforts. “Every donation, no matter how small, will help Tom get back on his feet,” it states.

Miller further noted George’s extensive volunteer work in the West Valley. He wrote, “Tom is the kind of person who always puts others first. Now, in his time of greatest need, we have the opportunity to return that generosity.”

In a message to AZ Free News, Chairwoman Everett stated that the LD29 GOP Committee is organizing a fundraiser to support George, aiming to uplift his spirits.

This incident is part of a broader context of community support among West Valley Republicans. Earlier this year, the West Valley Republican & Independent Coalition faced a similar tragedy when their office suffered a fire, resulting in significant losses.

As of now, the GoFundMe has raised over $3,000 toward its $10,000 goal.
