Law Enforcement Shooting Incident: Body Camera Footage Unleashed

The Lake Havasu City Police Department has disclosed body camera footage related to an incident involving a shooting by a Mohave County Sheriff’s deputy. The incident occurred last month during a pursuit of a suspect in Golden Valley.
Deputy Thomas Stucki, who has been with the sheriff’s office for three years, was among the law enforcement officials responding to reports of a stolen U-Haul truck. The investigation, led by Havasu investigators, began in early September.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they were informed that the suspect, William J. Erwin, 40, may have been armed and considered dangerous. Upon locating Erwin with the U-Haul, deputies attempted to order him to surrender. Instead, Erwin fled the scene at high speed.
While fleeing, Erwin reportedly drove past deputies, during which Stucki fired his weapon, striking the side of the U-Haul as it sped away onto State Route 68. Fortunately, neither Erwin nor the deputies sustained injuries during the incident.
Erwin later fled to Laughlin, where he was apprehended by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities promising to release more details as they become available.
