Late-Night Collision Sends Pedestrian to Hospital

Maricopa police and fire department responded to a pedestrian versus vehicle crash on Smith-Enke Road on the night of August 7, 2024.

The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. on West Smith-Enke Road, east of Santa Cruz Drive, according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch.

Sgt. Johnny Maynard from Maricopa Police reported that the pedestrian involved was transported to the hospital for evaluation, though details on the injuries were not immediately available.

Sgt. Maynard also confirmed that the driver remained on the scene, cooperative, and that impairment was not considered a factor.

Currently, Smith-Enke Road is closed in both directions between Vintage Drive and Santa Cruz Drive as the police continue their investigation.
