Karrin Taylor Robson Launches 2026 Governor Bid, Secures Donald Trump’s Support

Karrin Taylor Robson officially announced her candidacy for Arizona governor in 2026 on Wednesday. The Republican, who has a significant history with the state’s GOP, is eager to return to the political arena.
Robson previously received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump. During a speech at the Turning Point USA’s AmFest event held in Phoenix last December, Trump directly inquired about her plans, expressing his support for her potential campaign.
“Are you running for governor?” Trump asked. “I think so, Karrin, because if you do, you’re going to have my support.”
In her earlier attempt to secure the governorship in 2022, Robson was defeated by Kari Lake, who also had Trump’s endorsement. Lake subsequently lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs in the general election.
On social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Robson outlined her goals, stating, “I am running for Governor so we can defeat radical Katie Hobbs, support President @realDonaldTrump, lock down the border, and create jobs for Arizona.”
Joining the race, U.S. Congressman Andy Biggs is also eyeing the governorship. Biggs, a Trump ally, recently announced his exploration of a campaign, currently gathering signatures to appear on the 2026 ballot. Speculation has emerged among Arizona Republicans regarding Trump potentially backing Biggs in next year’s primary.
Robson’s claim of having Trump’s endorsement has faced criticism. Former Arizona Senator Justine Wadsack, a far-right Republican, accused her of misleading voters, asserting that Trump merely indicated he would support her candidacy if she ran.
In a campaign video, Robson further aligned herself with Trump’s agenda, particularly focusing on border security and job creation. The video features her walking along Arizona’s border fence, asserting her “tough as nails” stance on illegal immigration.
The video ends with a voiceover reiterating the importance of strong governance to support Trump’s initiatives, particularly regarding border control.
