Karrin Taylor Robson Joins 2026 AZ Governor Race with Trump’s Strong Endorsement

Karrin Taylor Robson has announced her candidacy for the Arizona governor’s race in 2026, seeking to reclaim her position within the state’s political landscape.
Robson, a prominent businesswoman and established figure in Arizona’s Republican Party, previously secured the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, who reiterated his support during a speech at the Turning Point USA’s AmFest event in Phoenix last December. “Are you running for governor?” Trump asked, adding, “I think so, Karrin, because if you do, you’re going to have my support.”
In 2022, Robson lost in the Republican primary to Kari Lake, who had Trump’s backing. Lake subsequently lost the general election to Democrat Katie Hobbs. Reflecting on her renewed attempt, Robson stated her goals on the social media platform X, expressing her commitment to defeating Hobbs, supporting Trump, enhancing border security, and fostering job growth in Arizona.
The Republican field for governor is shaping up, with U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs also entering the fray. He has been gathering signatures to qualify for the 2026 ballot after announcing his exploratory bid in late January. Speculation within Republican circles suggests that Trump may eventually endorse Biggs, sparking discussions among Arizona Republicans.
Robson’s assertion of Trump’s endorsement has faced criticism from some quarters. Former Arizona Senator Justine Wadsack, a vocal far-right Republican, accused Robson of misleading voters. “She is gaslighting the public with an implied endorsement,” Wadsack claimed on X, indicating that Trump’s words did not constitute a formal endorsement.
In a campaign video, Robson emphasized her alignment with Trump’s principles, particularly regarding border control and economic improvement. Walking along Arizona’s border fence in a jean jacket, she presented herself as a staunch advocate against illegal immigration, accentuated by a voiceover that declared, “President Trump is back in the White House, and he means business.” This message underscored her intentions to become a strong ally in enforcing Trump’s border policies.
