Jill Biden’s Convention Speech: A Heartfelt Tribute to President Biden and a New Chapter for the First Lady
Jill Biden is set to deliver a significant address at the Democratic National Convention, honoring her husband’s extensive public service and reflecting on the future of the party. The first lady has adapted to life in the spotlight since marrying Joe Biden, then a senator from Delaware, years ago.
On Monday night, as the president prepares for his keynote speech at the United Center, Jill Biden will highlight her husband’s character and reiterate her support for Vice President Kamala Harris, a source disclosed under anonymity.
Her speech aims to rally Americans around themes of unity, faith, and hope for a brighter future, in alignment with her prepared remarks. Earlier this year, President Biden reaffirmed his endorsement of Harris as she took on the role of Democratic nominee.
Despite challenges leading up to Biden’s suspension of his campaign in July due to a poor debate performance against Donald Trump, Jill remained a steadfast supporter. She emphasized her commitment during a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, asserting her unwavering belief in her husband’s reelection efforts.
Following Biden’s exit from the race on July 21, the convention’s opening night will now reflect on his legacy, which includes six terms in the Senate, eight years as vice president, and his recent presidency.
As both Bidens approach the end of their time in office, they are exploring aspirations for the remaining months. Jill Biden intends to continue her advocacy for military families, cancer research, women’s health, and educational opportunities through her initiatives.
She plans to campaign for Harris this fall, showcasing her commitment to the Democratic agenda. Jill Biden broke new ground as the first first lady to maintain a paying job outside of the White House, serving as a professor at Northern Virginia Community College since 2009.
Throughout her tenure as first lady, Jill Biden has traveled extensively, visiting over 40 states and 19 countries. She recently led a delegation to the Olympic Games in France, displaying support for Team USA. Additionally, she worked to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates during the pandemic and visited Ukraine in 2022 to express U.S. solidarity amidst the crisis.
