Jason Sudeikis Unveils Exciting Update: ‘Ted Lasso’ is Making a Comeback!

Exciting news for “Ted Lasso” fans: the beloved series will return for a fourth season. Jason Sudeikis, the star and co-creator, confirmed the development during a recent episode of the New Heights podcast featuring Travis and Jason Kelce. “We’re writing season 4 now,” Sudeikis disclosed, adding that Ted will be coaching a women’s team this time around.
Apple TV+ quickly corroborated Sudeikis’ announcement but has yet to specify a release date or current production status. In a statement, Sudeikis teased that the new season will focus on characters at AFC Richmond learning to take bold risks, embracing the idea that “wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
When pressed by Travis Kelce about Lasso’s possible return to the U.S. or continuing his coaching journey in England, Sudeikis playfully deflected with humor, stating, “yeah, that’s too many questions.”
Initially, “Ted Lasso” was perceived as a three-season series following its Emmy-winning run, which chronicles an American coach’s efforts to lead a soccer team in London. As Season 3 concluded in May 2023, Sudeikis remained ambiguous regarding a continuation of the series.
In the last episode of Season 3, Ted left AFC Richmond to reunite with his son, Henry, while Roy Kent stepped into the coaching role. The final scene hinted at the development of an AFC Richmond women’s team, laying the groundwork for Ted’s forthcoming challenge.
Prior to the Season 3 finale, the official “Ted Lasso” Twitter account referred to it as their “final match.” After a brief hiatus, the account resurfaced on Friday morning, humorously acknowledging its absence: “Finally found the dang password to this thing. Sorry y’all. What’d I miss?”
