Here's how Jade Carey did during the vault competition

Arizonan Jade Carey competed on Saturday in the women’s artistic gymnastics individual vault finals. Here’s how she fared.

PHOENIX — Arizonan Jade Carey is all smiles, donning a bronze medal and posing for selfies alongside Simone Biles and Rebeca Andrade following the women’s artistic gymnastics individual vault finals on Aug. 3 in Paris.

The Phoenix-born gymnast clinched her first Olympic vault medal with this bronze win, a noteworthy accomplishment in her athletic career.

The Mountain Ridge High School alumnus and current Oregon State gymnast secured third place, adding another medal to her collection at this year’s Olympic games in Paris.

American sensation Simone Biles captured gold, while Brazilian Rebeca Andrade earned silver, rounding out a remarkable podium.

Carey’s two vaults earned scores of 14.733 and 14.200, culminating in a combined score of 14.466. This performance was sufficient to earn her the third-place finish, making it her second Olympic medal this year and the third overall in her career.

In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Carey won gold on the floor exercise despite facing challenges in the vault event.

Carey has been involved in gymnastics since 2001—shortly after her birth—and she started competing at the elite level in 2017, eventually becoming a well-known name in the sport.

Carey’s perseverance and dedication continue to pave the way for her success in gymnastics.
