Jack Hardie Park Set for Month-Long Closure Amid Exciting Upgrades
Lake Havasu City officials announced the impending closure of Jack Hardie Park, effective August 26. This closure allows the Parks and Recreation Department to conduct essential improvements to the playground equipment.
Removal of the old equipment is set to begin on Monday. New playground equipment themed around the Balloonfest will be installed, with the project expected to be completed by late September.
This upgrade follows approval from the Lake Havasu City Council in February. Funds for the project derive from an additional $500,000 allocated for park beautification and amenity enhancement.
When the purchase was initially approved, former Parks and Recreation Director Mike Keane indicated a plan to repurpose the 2008 equipment at the Island Ball Fields. However, as Community Engagement Officer Jerri Bracamonte recently revealed, inspection of the equipment showed a need for numerous replacement parts, leading to a change in plans.
The city intends to retain the shade structure and salvage as much hardware as possible for future use. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to enhance community recreation spaces.
