Inspiring Excellence: Madison Simis Elementary’s Jessica Mooney Named A+ Teacher
PHOENIX — Jessica Mooney, a second-grade teacher at Madison Simis Elementary School, has been named the 12 News A+ Teacher for August 21. This recognition follows heartfelt testimonials from parents acknowledging her impactful approach to teaching.
One parent, Abra Rummel, expressed deep gratitude for Mooney’s dedication, particularly for her son Oliver, who has faced challenges related to ADHD and being on the autism spectrum. Rummel noted that Oliver has flourished under Mooney’s care. “He made friends and wanted to hang out with classmates outside of school,” she said, highlighting the significant positive changes in his social and academic life.
Principal Lindsay Murray emphasized Mooney’s ability to create a welcoming environment where students feel valued. “When you walk in here, you feel like you are part of a community,” she stated during a surprise presentation honoring Mooney.
During the event, Oliver and Rummel presented Mooney with flowers and a certificate, underscoring her influence on Oliver’s growth. “It feels so nice to be recognized for that,” Mooney commented, reflecting on her connection with her students.
In addition to the recognition, Mooney received a $500 gift from 12News and American Furniture Warehouse, further celebrating her commitment to education.
