Inside the City Council: Key Votes from the September 10, 2024 Meeting
In a recent meeting, the Lake Havasu City Council discussed several significant issues impacting local development and infrastructure.
One noteworthy matter was the proposal concerning 1850 Bahama Avenue. The council voted 4-3 to return a request for a major general plan amendment to the Planning and Zoning Commission. This amendment aims to alter the future land use designation for the site from high-density residential to a resort-related mainland classification.
In tandem with this decision, another proposal concerning the same location also garnered attention. The council voted 4-3 to send back a request for a general development plan and zoning change, which would permit the construction of a 14-acre resort project at 1850 Bahama Avenue.
Additionally, the council addressed the City Core repaving re-bid project. The vote was unanimous at 6-0, although Council Member Nancy Campbell recused herself from this decision. A change order will increase the city’s contract with Pioneer Earth Movers, Inc. by $254,299.50. This additional funding will facilitate the replacement of the asphalt pavement on the iconic London Bridge.
