Infant's death leads to arrests, possible murder charge in Arizona

In a tragic case, Tucson police have made arrests related to the death of an infant. The three-month-old girl died from blunt force injuries, which authorities have classified as homicide.

Detectives have apprehended Hunter Poppe, who faces first-degree murder and child abuse charges. He is currently held on a $1 million bond.

The baby’s mother, Amanda Altagracia Durain, 31, has also been arrested under similar charges.

In January, the infant was admitted to Banner Medical Center with significant injuries and difficulty breathing. A subsequent CT scan revealed multiple brain bleeds of various ages. Unfortunately, the baby succumbed to her injuries after several days in the hospital.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as blunt force trauma, underscoring the severity of the situation. Poppe, 24, reportedly failed to provide a reasonable explanation for the child’s injuries, denying any claims of dropping or shaking her.
