Remembering the late Bill Boler, Sedona Fire District’s former assistant chief

The Verde Valley Fire District has confirmed the passing of Chief Bill Boler, who served as the district’s Emergency Medical Services coordinator. His death occurred on the morning of June 3.

With a career spanning over four decades, Boler made significant contributions to fire and emergency services. He initially volunteered with the Camp Verde Fire District and the Camp Verde Ambulance Association before moving to the Sedona Fire District, where he worked from 1988 until 2009, culminating his tenure as assistant fire chief.

In addition to his firefighting duties, Boler was actively involved with the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, and the Verde Valley Ambulance Company.

Boler led the Verde Valley CPR and AED Program, an initiative that successfully trained over 20,000 residents in essential lifesaving skills. He also personally trained thousands of EMTs and paramedics, many of whom continue to serve in the Verde Valley today.

His dedication to early intervention and public preparedness has undoubtedly saved lives and bolstered community resilience, according to a press release from VVFD.

“Chief Boler’s life exemplified the commitment to safety and protection of those in need. His impact on public safety, education, and community health is profound. We are a stronger, safer community thanks to Bill’s efforts and compassion. His absence will be deeply felt,” stated VVFD staff in a press release.

The Verde Valley Fire District extends heartfelt condolences to Boler’s family, friends, and the many individuals and agencies that benefited from his lifelong service.
