Carlos Munoz-Perez, a Mexican national with a history of serious offenses, was apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) near the San Pedro River. His arrest occurred on June 22nd, raising alarms due to his prior convictions, including illegal entry and unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

Chief Patrol Agent Sean McGoffin confirmed Munoz-Perez’s disturbing background, revealing that he had been sentenced to 12 years for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor in 2011. Records checks conducted by the agents brought his past to light.

As agents detained him, they were quick to communicate the seriousness of the situation via social media. “Thanks to the vigilance and determination of agents, this predator will not reach our communities,” stated McGoffin. Munoz-Perez is now facing charges for illegal re-entry as a previously removed felon.

The Border Patrol is working closely with the U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate further and may file additional charges. This collaborative effort underscores the agency’s commitment to community safety.

In a related development, the Department of Homeland Security shared information about other criminal illegal aliens apprehended. Highlighting ongoing enforcement measures, officials expressed their determination to combat immigration issues, despite challenges from certain activists and politicians.

The DHS referenced a group of twenty captured offenders from the Los Angeles area, among which seven were identified as sex offenders, with five crimes involving minors. This situation highlights the focus on removing individuals who pose a risk to public safety.
