Homesteader Unveils Intriguing ‘Alien Survival Guide’ Set for March Release

Maricopa Author Debuts Sci-Fi Novel: “I Know What UFO Did Last Summer”
Author Kevin Garone has launched his first book, “I Know What UFO Did Last Summer,” conceived in the comfort of his home office located in Maricopa’s Homestead North neighborhood. The narrative centers around a young protagonist who believes he has stumbled upon an alien conspiracy, embarking on a quest for the truth alongside his quirky friend.
Garone, originally from the East Coast, drew from personal experiences in crafting this tale. Reflecting on his childhood passions, he recounted a phase in elementary school when he was captivated by the idea that the Animorphs book series could be real.
He aims for his writing to resonate with tween audiences, specifically children aged 10 to 12 who enjoy whimsical yet suspenseful stories, reminiscent of popular series like Stranger Things and Last Kids on Earth. The blend of sci-fi drama and comedic elements is intentional, designed to capture the imagination of young readers.
By day, Garone is a copywriter and by night, he embraces his role as an author and father of two. His writing process is punctuated by moments of creativity inspired by his oldest child, often filled with inquisitive questions about the monsters in his stories.
“I draw inspiration from my own life and the experiences of that age,” Garone explained, highlighting the nostalgic connection he feels for the characters’ ages of 12 or 13.
This debut marks just the beginning for Garone. He plans to expand the story into an ongoing series titled the Alien Survival Guide, with themes reflecting his diverse experiences, including those from his new home in Maricopa.
Fans can expect the book to hit the shelves on March 11.
