Home Depot announces opening date, and it’s only a month away

The Home Depot is set to open its doors on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway on Thursday, September 26, according to company spokesperson Lauren Anderson. This long-anticipated launch follows years of planning and construction, with initial proposals dating back to 2007 before being paused due to the Great Recession. After rumors resurfaced last April, construction commenced in December, leading to this milestone event.

Anderson mentioned that while store hours were not confirmed, a “neighborhood night” would take place on September 25. This event is designed to bring the community together with refreshments, games, giveaways, and workshops for children.

Former City Manager Rick Horst expressed optimism about the store’s impact, stating that Home Depot is a major retailer whose presence is likely to attract other businesses to the area. He estimated that the store could generate approximately $1 million annually in tax revenue for the city, indicating significant economic benefits.

The excitement surrounding the new Home Depot location has also sparked additional developments. A Lowe’s Home Improvement store is anticipated to be built at a nearby site on John Wayne Parkway at Honeycutt Avenue, further enhancing the region’s retail landscape.
