Vehicle flees scene after hitting, killing bicyclist in south Phoenix


PHOENIX — Authorities are on the hunt for a light-colored truck implicated in a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a bicyclist in south Phoenix.

Police responded to a crash near 16th Street and Buckeye Road on Saturday night. Upon arrival, they discovered the injured bicyclist, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The vehicle involved had already left the scene by the time officers arrived.

Investigators revealed that the truck was headed north on 16th Street when it struck the bicyclist and continued in the same direction without stopping.

The police are urging anyone with information about the truck to contact Silent Witness. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 480 (WITNESS) or 480 (TESTIGO). Information that leads to an arrest may qualify for a reward.
