Maricopa has been recognized as one of the “best up-and-coming small cities” in a recent analysis by HGTV, which utilized U.S. Census Bureau data and other economic reports.

The popular cable channel released its list of the top 30 emerging cities in the United States, with Maricopa securing the 16th position.

The designation highlights Maricopa’s affordable housing and access to outdoor recreational activities.

According to the report, “Maricopa doesn’t have the hustle and bustle of Phoenix, but it does offer safe vibes, sun-splashed scenery, and plenty to do in this small town.” Many residents appreciate its small-town charm and reasonable housing market.

The analysis also mentions local attractions such as the Dwarf Car Museum in Hidden Valley and the Duke at Rancho El Dorado Golf Club.

HGTV considered multiple factors, including healthcare access, job proximity, income levels, outdoor recreation opportunities, and housing affordability, drawing from census data and the Milken Institute’s report on optimal U.S. cities.

In this report, Queen Creek emerged as Arizona’s top city, ranking second overall, followed closely by Buckeye at third. Both cities are experiencing significant growth, with new home constructions driving their development. Goodyear ranked 15th, just above Maricopa, attributed to its recreational offerings and a 10% growth rate in recent years.
