Heroic Officer Badly Hurt Enforcing Protective Order in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A police officer was hospitalized Wednesday night after an assault while serving an order of protection in south Phoenix, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Central and Southern avenues, where officers attempted to serve the legal order.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a woman who displayed aggressive behavior. During the attempt to make an arrest, additional family members intervened, resulting in a violent confrontation.

One officer sustained serious injuries during this altercation and was transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, he is expected to be released soon following emergency medical care.
