McDonald’s staff help fight Golden Arches fire

On October 24, 2024, a fire incident unfolded at the McDonald’s located on the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, prompting a swift response from the Maricopa Fire and Medical Department.

The fire emerged as staff reported the situation to dispatchers, necessitating immediate action. “We are on the scene as a safety check to make sure it is indeed fully out and that it didn’t extend further than staff saw,” city spokesperson Monica Williams stated around noon.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Observers noted white smoke billowing from the restaurant’s roof, accompanied by the blaring of fire alarms and firefighters deploying a large ventilation fan at the establishment’s entrance.

The parking lot was closed off with orange cones, restricting access. Williams later confirmed, “The fire was mostly out when we arrived as staff had followed their procedures. We did use an extinguisher to put it completely out.”
