Heroic Helicopter Rescue of Injured Hiker on Camelback Mountain

PHOENIX — Emergency responders successfully rescued an injured hiker from Camelback Mountain on Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix Fire Department deployed the Firebird 10 helicopter to assist in the operation.
The woman sustained an ankle injury while hiking, prompting immediate action from the firefighters. Upon arrival, they conducted a medical assessment of her condition.
Given the challenging terrain and gusty winds, rescuers determined that a helicopter was necessary for a safe extraction. Crews relocated her to an area suitable for a hoist operation.
Once secured, the hiker was lifted to a designated landing zone. Following the rescue, she was transported to a hospital by ambulance and was reported stable upon arrival.
The swift response of first responders highlights the importance of safety measures while hiking in rugged areas.
