Heroic Helicopter Rescue: Injured Hiker Airlifted from Camelback Mountain

PHOENIX — A helicopter rescue operation took place on Saturday afternoon as first responders responded to an injured hiker on Camelback Mountain, authorities confirmed.
According to the Phoenix Fire Department, Firebird 10 was deployed to lift the woman, who had sustained an ankle injury while hiking.
Upon arrival, firefighters conducted a medical assessment of her condition and vital signs. Given the severity of the situation, it became evident that helicopter extraction was necessary.
“Due to gusty winds and the challenging terrain, crews moved the patient to a safer location suitable for the hoist operation,” the fire department reported.
The woman was successfully airlifted to a designated landing zone before being transported to a hospital by ambulance. Authorities noted she was in stable condition upon arrival at the medical facility.
