1 injured during escape from Homestead garage fire

A garage fire in Homestead left one resident with minor injuries on the night of February 4, 2025. The incident occurred in the 40100 block of West Curtis Way just after 10:30 p.m.

The Maricopa Fire and Medical Department (MFMD) responded promptly, with spokesperson Monica Williams confirming that the first crews on-site ensured no one remained inside the residence. They successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading beyond the garage.

The injuries reported were described as “bumps and bruises,” resulting from the individual’s fall while escaping the fire, Williams stated.

In addition to MFMD, units from Sun Lakes and Chandler were also dispatched as part of the Phoenix Regional Automatic Aid System, which delivers additional fire resources to structure fires in the Maricopa area.

As of this morning, the affected home was boarded up, with a lockbox placed on its front door, indicating the extent of the damage.
