Maricopa Police Respond to Parking Lot Collision at Walmart

On the evening of November 12, 2024, Maricopa police officers attended to a vehicle collision in the parking lot of Walmart, located on the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. The incident occurred at approximately 8:49 p.m., fortunately resulting in no injuries.

A motorist encountered an unexpected obstacle when her 2018 Nissan Rogue collided with a bollard while navigating the parking lot. The bollard, designed to delineate areas of pedestrian traffic, played a crucial role in preventing a potentially more severe incident involving the store’s entrance.

In the official police report, officers noted that the driver was traveling westbound at 10 to 15 miles per hour when another vehicle made a wide right turn in front of them. “The driver stated they attempted to make more room for the turning vehicle when they collided with a concrete bollard,” the report indicated. The collision disabled the SUV, but both the bollard and the driver emerged relatively unscathed.

Regarding damages, the officer commented, “Any damages to the property are considered a civil matter between the driver and the property owner.” No citations were issued following the incident.
