Heritage girls’ basketball brings home first regional chip

The Heritage Academy girls’ basketball team achieved a historic milestone by winning their first regional championship last week. The Heroes clinched the title on February 12 by defeating Ridgeline Academy from Phoenix with a score of 46-43. This victory marks a significant moment for the team, being their debut championship win in the Canyon Athletic Association’s Mountain Region for Division II.

Head Coach Janell Tabor reflected on the journey, sharing that the season began with a critical query: what the team needed to reach the next level. “The girls answered, and we provided, pushed, and poured into them to make it happen,” she stated, highlighting the commitment and determination that fueled their success.

However, the team’s journey faced a setback on February 15, when they were defeated by Imagine Prep High School in the Final Four with a score of 66-33. Despite this loss, Tabor remained optimistic. “This chapter may be closing, but the legacy is just the beginning,” she asserted. “We’re not done yet,” signaling her intention to continue building on the team’s achievements.
