Havasu’s Population Soars: Approaching 60,000 Residents!
Recent estimates from the United States Census Bureau indicate that Lake Havasu City is on track to reach a population close to 60,000. As of July 2023, the city’s estimated population stands at 59,257, reflecting a 3.7% growth since the last census in 2020, which recorded 57,144 residents.
This growth trajectory also represents a significant increase of 12.8% from the 2010 census figure of 52,527. However, these statistics do not take into account the seasonal influx of snowbirds who might temporarily skew population data.
Census guidelines attribute snowbirds to their primary residence—determined by where they reside and sleep most often. In cases where there is uncertainty, they are classified under the location where they are present on census day, April 1.
Further economic insights reveal that Lake Havasu City boasts a labor force of 25,175, alongside an unemployment rate of 4.7%, as detailed in a county profile from the Arizona Commerce Authority. Despite forecasts from the Lake Havasu Metropolitan Planning Organization suggesting a mild population growth rate of 0.7% from 2014 to 2040, recent indicators point towards a more robust growth rate of approximately 1% annually.
Looking beyond the city, Mohave County is projected to experience steady population growth over the next 15 years, according to the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity. Projections estimate an increase of between 30,000 and 71,000 residents by the year 2040.
