Havasu Woman’s Tragic Death Linked to Drug Use

The Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office has concluded its investigation into the death of a Lake Havasu City woman. Marissa Hoffmann, 33, was found deceased on July 24, near London Bridge Road. The preliminary findings indicate she died from acute intoxication due to methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Hoffmann was last seen on July 10, at a Walmart, where she accompanied a friend. An encounter with law enforcement prompted her to flee the store—a moment caught on surveillance cameras. Her family reported her missing just days later, on July 14.
A search initiated after Hoffmann’s purse and shoes were discovered behind Walmart on July 23 led to the grim discovery of her remains, located approximately 100 yards from the store.
The extreme heat in the area, with temperatures soaring between 90 and 120 degrees during the search period, complicated identification efforts. Nevertheless, investigators identified her through dental records, tattoos, and clothing details.
Evidence at the scene and findings from the autopsy indicated Hoffmann was a known user of methamphetamine and fentanyl. Authorities discovered burnt tinfoil and a plastic bag believed to contain methamphetamine among her belongings. The medical examiner confirmed the presence of these substances in her liver tissue, while ruling out any external injuries prior to her death.
