Havasu Teacher’s Bond Slashed Amid Teen Runaway Misconduct Allegations

In a recent legal proceeding, Deputy Mohave County Attorney Marcie Mininberg stated that former Lake Havasu City school teacher Robyn Rogers, 44, exploited a teenager’s troubled home life to develop an illicit sexual relationship with him. The teenager, a runaway, had reached out to Rogers amid family issues.
Mininberg revealed to Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen that Rogers first encountered the victim when he was a high school freshman. After some time, they reconnected, and the 17-year-old shared his home life struggles with her.
The teenager ran away from home in mid-February. Local police, suspecting Rogers might know his whereabouts, questioned her multiple times. Mininberg claimed Rogers lied consistently and aided the teen in obtaining employment and avoiding detection.
Rogers’ defense attorney, Bob Heieck, firmly disputed Mininberg’s accusations.
Despite the allegations, Rogers continued working at Telesis Preparatory Academy until her arrest on July 11. According to Mininberg, the teenager had voiced a desire to postpone any relationship with Rogers until he turned 18, claiming she was “too much to handle.”
The hearing primarily addressed Heieck’s request to reduce Rogers’ $25,000 bond, advocating for her release on self-recognizance. It was disclosed that Rogers would live with her daughter if released, despite being married.
Rogers faces charges of custodial interference and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor, to which she has pleaded not guilty. Judge Jantzen emphasized the severity and disturbing nature of the allegations.
Jantzen approved a reduction of her bond to $20,000, under the condition of pre-trial supervision if she is freed. Rogers’ next pre-trial conference is scheduled for August 26.
