Havasu teacher accused of sex with runaway teen has a court date

A Lake Havasu City educator, Robyn M. Rogers, faces arraignment in Mohave Superior Court for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old runaway.

Rogers, 44, is accused of two counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of custodial interference. Court records identify the victim as N.A. The charges stem from incidents in April and July where Rogers is said to have wrongfully kept custody and had intercourse with the minor.

Until recently, Rogers was employed as a school board liaison and a life skills and child development coach at Telesis Preparatory Academy.

Authorities started searching for N.A. on February 16, two days after the minor was last seen at home. Following a four-month search, they found N.A. at Rogers’ residence on Beefeater Drive.

On July 18, officers confronted Rogers at her home on suspicion of harboring the runaway. N.A. was spotted leaving the house and attempted to flee but was captured after a short chase.

Subsequent investigations by Lake Havasu City Police led to Rogers being charged with additional offenses, including providing false information, possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia, and hindering prosecution.

Telesis founder and superintendent Sandy Breece confirmed that Rogers has been terminated from the charter school.

As of Monday, Rogers remains in custody at the Mohave County Jail in Kingman with a bond set at $25,000.
