Havasu Resident Accepts Plea Deal in Disturbing Domestic Violence and Weapons Charges

Ricky L. Beach, a 40-year-old Lake Havasu City resident, has accepted a plea deal with Mohave County prosecutors following an incident in which he allegedly discharged a firearm toward his wife’s vehicle with their children inside. The plea agreement was formalized on Tuesday during proceedings at Mohave Superior Court.
Beach pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault categorized as domestic violence, a non-dangerous Class 3 felony. The potential penalties for this conviction range from two to 8.75 years in prison, alongside a possible fine of up to $150,000.
As part of the agreement, sentencing may result in either incarceration or probation at the judge’s discretion. Furthermore, Beach is prohibited from contacting the victim and her children without prior permission from the family court in Mohave County.
In exchange for the guilty plea, multiple additional charges—including aggravated assault, endangerment, and disorderly conduct with a weapon—will be dismissed.
The events leading to the plea date back to December 2, when officers responded to a disturbance on the 1700 block of Bahama Avenue. Witnesses reported that Beach confronted the victim and her children, a situation reportedly stemming from ongoing custody disputes.
Following a heated exchange via phone and text messages, Beach allegedly drove to the victim’s location. Reports indicate he obstructed the victim’s vehicle, exiting his own to confront her. During this encounter, he allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded custody of their child.
Despite witness accounts and video evidence, Beach’s defense attorney, Mike Wozniak, asserts that Beach did not threaten the children nor brandish the weapon in a menacing manner. Witness testimony from an individual armed with an AR-15 who watched the confrontation is also part of the investigation.
Police arrived shortly after the situation escalated and took statements from Beach and other witnesses. Initially, Beach faced multiple felony charges including six counts of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct, as well as two counts of endangerment.
Currently free on a $5,000 bond, Beach’s sentencing is set for October 29 in Mohave Superior Court.
