Havasu Police: Homeless Man Destroys Lamborghini and Ransacks Luxury Mansion
A homeless man, Adam G. Canchola, 25, found himself in a precarious situation after receiving assistance from a sympathetic Lake Havasu City resident. This encounter led to a shocking series of events that ended in extensive property damage, including to high-end vehicles and a multimillion-dollar home.
Canchola, who was homeless in Las Vegas seven months ago, had reportedly shared a tragic backstory with his benefactor, describing childhood abuse and hardship. This prompted the resident to invite Canchola and his sister into his home situated in an affluent neighborhood, where properties range from $2.5 million to $3 million.
Though Canchola’s sister found employment and moved out in June, he remained in the home. Suspicion arose when the homeowner suspected Canchola of theft and informed him on August 3 that he needed to vacate the premises. Despite being granted temporary access to an off-highway vehicle, trouble began soon after.
On August 4, law enforcement cited Canchola for speeding, leading the homeowner to restrict his access to all vehicles. Ignoring this directive, Canchola is accused of causing significant damage to the homeowner’s luxury cars, including a 2023 Lamborghini and a 2020 McLaren, totaling tens of thousands of dollars.
The situation escalated on August 5 when the homeowner, upon returning from dinner, discovered that Canchola had severely vandalized his property. Windows on both luxury vehicles were shattered, with estimates suggesting that just the McLaren’s windshield alone could cost around $33,000 to replace.
Further chaos ensued as Canchola allegedly returned the borrowed vehicle while attempting to evade accountability for the damage. The homeowner quickly contacted authorities upon discovering the vandalism.
Law enforcement arrived to apprehend Canchola, who reportedly provided a false identity. Witnesses assisted officers in confirming his true identity, leading to his detention. An investigation of the property revealed significant destruction, including shattered televisions and a damaged dining table.
Evidence of disarray included items scattered throughout the home and extensive property damage that prompted the involvement of a crime scene technician. Canchola later confessed to causing the damage during questioning.
Canchola now faces felony charges of criminal damage and unlawful use of a means of transportation, along with a misdemeanor charge for refusing to identify himself. He is currently held at the Mohave County Jail on a $10,000 bond, awaiting arraignment in Mohave Superior Court next Monday.
