Havasu man awaits trial on felony drug, weapons charges

A man from Lake Havasu City is now facing felony charges following his arrest during a routine traffic stop last week. Authorities reported the discovery of fentanyl powder, paraphernalia, and three firearms in his possession.

The incident occurred on the evening of October 28, while officers from the Lake Havasu City Police were patrolling near State Route 95. They spotted 37-year-old Jeremy M. Delich, who was observed exceeding the speed limit, driving at 60 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone. As Delich approached the city center, the speed limit dropped to 45 miles per hour, but he failed to reduce his speed accordingly.

Officers initiated a stop at the intersection of State Route 95 and North Palo Verde Boulevard. During the encounter, Delich exhibited apprehensive behavior, raising suspicions about potential contraband in his vehicle.

When questioned about any weapons, Delich acknowledged having a knife attached to his necklace, which he willingly surrendered to the police. He received a citation for misdemeanor charges related to the misuse of finite resources.

After issuing the citation, officers utilized a K9 unit to search for illegal drugs. The K9 indicated the presence of narcotics, leading officers to search Delich’s clothing.

During this search, officers discovered a hollow pen tube with melted ends containing a suspected fentanyl residue. A subsequent search of Delich’s vehicle uncovered a small piece of aluminum foil that also tested positive for fentanyl powder.

Furthermore, officers found an assortment of firearms including a fully-loaded .357-caliber revolver, an AR-15 rifle, and a 30-30 lever-action shotgun.

Delich was ultimately arrested and booked at the Lake Havasu City Police Department on multiple charges, including possession of narcotic drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon in connection with a drug offense, and failure to notify law enforcement about the weapons he possessed.
