Havasu Gears Up for Spectacular Reveal of SARA Park’s Rock Snake, Rockette

Lake Havasu City is set to welcome a vibrant addition to SARA Park next Saturday. The much-anticipated rock snake, affectionately named Rockette, is the result of a community initiative spearheaded by rock artist Tillie Aker.
Aker, a member of the Lake Havasu “Rocks!” Facebook group, was inspired to develop this project after witnessing a similar one in Needles, California. She reached out for guidance and received vital support from Wendy Rudolph, a member of the Needles rock community.
In January, Aker submitted a proposal to the City, which was approved by the Parks and Recreation Department the following month. “It went to Parks and Recreation and our city manager; the SARA Park Trailhead location was picked out,” Aker detailed.
To further engage the community, a rock painting event is scheduled for Saturday, where locals can prepare rocks in anticipation of Rockette’s unveiling. This event promotes creativity and community involvement.
“In efforts to support Lake Havasu ‘Rocks!’, the parks department wanted to host a rock painting event,” stated Becky Escobar, administrative specialist 1.
The rock painting event will occur at the Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center, located at 100 Park Ave. It will run from 9 to 11 a.m. in the upper deck pool area. Those interested can obtain more details by contacting the Aquatic Center at 928-453-8686.
The grand reveal of Rockette, featuring colorful rocks painted by community members, will take place at SARA Park Trailhead on Saturday, November 9th, starting at 9 a.m.
